Early Years Consultancy, Training and Development

Supporting providers with the creation of purposeful learning environments

Portrait.JPG

Hi! I'm Emma Archer and I am an Early Years Consultant based in North East England.

I specialise in advising schools and childcare settings on the development and enhancement of learning environments and have a strong background in advising on and seeing the potential of outdoor areas and spaces. Particularly in EYFS, the environment in which the children learn and develop is often thought of as the 'third teacher.'  Therefore, it is imperative that the space in which children play and consequently learn, is meeting it's true potential as then the children can meet theirs.

You may have an area of learning in your school or setting that you'd like to improve, such as writing, increasing physical activity, maths or even behaviour management. I am confident that I can advise and support you with how developing your continuous provision can be used to achieve this. You may be due Ofsted and you'd like some reassurance that your learning environments are supporting your children's needs effectively.

In addition to consultancy I can also offer training in the form of in-person and there are also pre recorded courses available in the courses and shop sections of the website.

Please take your time to look through the website to see what I can offer you and your setting.

If you are thinking about getting in touch then please do not hesitate, I'd really love to hear from you.

My Background and Experience

I have worked in the education sector for almost 20 years and for most of that I have taught in Early Years, either in mixed age Nursery and Reception classes or one form entry.  During this time my enthusiasm for developing learning environments through the use of great continuous provision has grown and grown. I love how engaged and excited children can be when have the right environment to learn in.

Six years ago I became the Early Years Lead in a small first school in Northumberland. Both the outside and the indoor provision areas needed to be developed and over the next few years I set about transforming the space into the optimal learning environment. I did this with very limited budget and a lot of creative thinking and problem solving. The space became a wonderfully enriching space for children to really engage with different areas and develop their minds.

Since then I have dedicated my time to deepening my understanding of how we can use our provision to benefit our children.  I have attended numerous CPD events and I regularly consult with other practitioners and professionals within the world of EYFS to ensure that we are delivering best practise to Early Years settings.

I then began to be asked to advise other schools within the Trust I worked for, especially for help with outdoor areas of the provision. I found that I really enjoyed this and so that is how I formed the idea of First Class Provision.

In my previous setting I was the Early Years SENDCO and over the years I've dedicated much of my time to exploring how best to make learning environments work for children with additional needs.

The roots of First Class Provision is my dedication to fostering a love for learning in young children.

I recognise the importance of creating enriching learning environments for children to be engaged and excited. I believe in providing support to schools, preschool and childcare settings to enhance early childhood education.

I look forward to hearing from you.
